CGFOA Education Scholarship Policy
PURPOSE:
To assist Colorado Active CGFOA Members, no matter the size
of the organization, with in-state education and training in keeping
with the organizations professional goals while increasing their
knowledge and skills to better serve the entities they belong to and
their citizens and taxpayers.
FUNDING:
The CGFOA Board of Directors will annually authorize and
designate the amount of money available to assist with the funding
of individual attendance at various in-state programs.
PROGRAMS
ELIGIBLE: The
following programs offered here in Colorado are considered eligible
for Scholarship assistance to our members:
GFOA Technical Training Programs
Annual Conference
DOLA Training on Financial Affairs
CGFOA
Education Committee sponsored Seminars
INDIVIDUALS
ELIGIBLE: Applicants
are encouraged to supplement the CGFOA scholarship funds with
payment of a portion of the costs of attendance by either the
person’s organization or by them selves. This allows CGFOA to increase the educational assistance
offered by its members

Individuals must be members in good standing of CGFOA at the
time of the application.
2.
Individuals
should describe how the training would benefit their organization.
Individuals should describe their reasons for applying for
financial assistance.
3.
Applicants who have received scholarships twice in the last
five years may not be eligible.
Only one application per member in any one calendar year will
be approved.
4.
In most instances the individuals should be the only
financial/accounting persons from their organization who are
attending the training session.
CGFOA funds should not be used to send a second or third
person from the same organization to the same training opportunity.
However, this discretionary decision will be made by the
scholarship committee.
5.
The names of individuals/organizations that receive financial
assistance will not be publicly announced at CGFOA meetings.
APPLICATION
PROCESS:
Individuals who are interested and eligible must submit their
application at least thirty days prior to the classes, and on the
form provided by CGFOA. Applications
should be directed to the the CFGOA Administrator.
